Position SummaryThe Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in digital health. The term of appointment is one year, with potential renewal for an additional year. The candidate may start as early as the Fall of 2020, Spring 2021, Summer 2021, or Fall 2021; applications received by October 15, 2020 will receive full consideration, but applications will continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The salary benefits are competitive, and includes the possibility of funding for conference-related travel and expenses. During the period of the fellowship, the fellow is expected to live in the Bloomington, Indiana area. Responsibilities: The person selected will work with Chair and Professor Eric Walsh-Buhi to define both formal and informal duties. They will coordinate with Dr. Walsh-Buhi and other faculty at Indiana University interested in the application of 1) sexual and reproductive health and 2) digital health, especially regarding research with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Twitter), websites such as Reddit, and mHealth applications. In addition to conducting their own research, the fellow’s responsibilities include collaborating with faculty on grant writing efforts and research projects, with opportunities for joint publications. The fellow will also work with, train, and mentor students and other project staff.

Basic QualificationsApplicants are invited from any relevant discipline including public health, the social and behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology), geography, computer science/informatics, or data science. Candidates must have received a doctoral degree from an accredited educational institution by the start of appointment. The successful applicant will have a strong interest and research experience in digital health, social media, and/or big data; knowledge of (but not necessarily experience with) machine learning models and methods, APIs, and/or Web scraping; and excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal and organizational skills. Basic programming knowledge (C/, C++, Python, etc.) would be an advantage. The successful applicant should be able to provide evidence of past work or skillsets.
