  Texas Biomed partners with hundreds of researchers and institutions around the world, targeting advances in the fight against infectious diseases impacting our communities around the world, including AIDS, TB, hepatitis, malaria, hemorrhagic fever viruses, parasitic infections and many other infectious diseases. We also study co-morbidities of infection and vulnerable populations, such as the very young and the elderly and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. Its staff of more than 350 employees includes a multidisciplinary team of approximately 65+ doctoral-level scientists who lead more than 200 major research projects in the Institute’s three program areas of Disease Intervention & Prevention, Host Pathogen Interaction and Population Health, as well as the Southwest National Primate Research Center.

  Postdoctoral Scientist – Martinez-Sobrido Lab

  A Postdoctoral Scientist position in Molecular Biology, Virology and Immunology is available in the laboratory of Dr. Luis Martinez-Sobrido at Texas Biomedical Research Institute.  Dr. Luis Martinez-Sobrido’s research interest focuses on the molecular biology and in the evasion of the innate immune response by viruses, mainly influenza, arenavirus, coronavirus and Zika.  The laboratory is also interested in the identification and characterization of new prophylactic and therapeutic countermeasures to combat viral infections. As a result, Dr. Martinez-Sobrido’s laboratory is part of the New York Influenza Center of Excellence (NYICE), one of the NIAID Centers of Excellence in Influenza Research and Surveillance (CEIRS) network.

  The postdoctoral fellow will work with a vibrant and international collaborative group of virologists and immunologists in direct interaction/collaboration with other virologists and immunologists at Texas Biomed and other research institutes.

  Requirements for this position are: Qualifications include a PhD degree in molecular biology, virology or immunology. Ideal candidates should have training and experience in molecular biology, immunology and virology.  The qualified candidate should also have strong written and oral communication skills.  Please include a statement of research interest with your application.
