The Molecular Plant Breeding Center (CeM²P), a FAPESP Engineering Research Center (CPE/FAPESP) hosted at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), invites applications for a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship in sugarcane genomics.

The project focuses on the selection of SNP markers for the development of panels aimed at genetic diversity characterization and large-scale genotyping of breeding progenies. The panels will be developed using publicly available genomic datasets, with potential application in the major Brazilian sugarcane breeding programs.

The selected candidate will play a central role in the development of these panels by selecting public sequencing datasets, identifying and selecting SNP markers suitable for the proposed applications, and validating their performance in a breeding population. The fellow will also participate in molecular breeding projects and genomic and transcriptomic studies involving other plant species investigated at CeM²P.

Requirements: Ph.D. degree obtained within the last seven years in Plant Genetics and Breeding, Biotechnology, Plant Biology, or related fields; strong background in plant genomics, transcriptomics, and population genetics; proficiency in bioinformatics tools for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis; fluency in English; and immediate availability.

Desirable qualifications: familiarity with challenges related to polyploidy and genome complexity, including allele dosage analysis; experience supervising and integrating graduate student research projects; and the ability to work effectively in large, multidisciplinary, and collaborative research teams.

The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of BRL 12,570, plus a FAPESP Research Contingency Fund. The initial appointment is for two years and may be extended subject to project progress and funding availability.
