Job Details

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join Dr. Rong Liu’s lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. This position focuses on investigating the roles and mechanisms of molecular motor proteins in human sensory processes.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply cutting-edge single-molecule techniques and high-resolution microscopy to study the biophysics of sensory motors, their roles in cytoskeletal dynamics, and how their dysfunction contributes to human sensory diseases, including vision and hearing loss.

This research integrates a multidisciplinary approach, including protein biochemistry, cryo-EM, fluorescence single-molecule imaging, and iPSC-derived sensory neurons, with the goal of identifying new therapeutic targets for motor-related sensory disorders.

Required qualifications:

PhD in life sciences or a related field

One or more first-author peer-reviewed publications

Experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, protein biochemistry, or fluorescence microscopy.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with purified protein systems, cryo-EM, iPSCs, or single-molecule microscopy
