Job Summary:

The Computational Chemistry and Bioinformatics Research CORE (CCBRC) of the Glycoscience Center of Research Excellence (GlyCORE) at the University of Mississippi, is seeking applications for the CORE Manager position, at the rank of Research Scientist. This position will manage the day-to-day operations of CCBRC.

Job Description:

The Computational Chemistry and Bioinformatics Research CORE (CCBRC) of the Glycoscience Center of Research Excellence (GlyCORE) at the University of Mississippi, is seeking applications for the CORE Manager position, at the rank of Research Scientist. This position will manage the day-to-day operations of CCBRC.

The primary purpose of CCBRC is to be a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence, which entails being a leader in and collaborating with others on computational glycoscience, including calculations on the structures and properties of small molecules containing sugar moieties; structures and properties of glycoconjugates such as glycoproteins; protein-ligand interactions in which either the protein or ligand or both contain glyco groups; bioinformatics analysis of big data such as the outputs of mass spectrometry of glycoconjugate mixtures; and other bioinformatics, such as for pathway analysis of glycosylation.

This position will carry out many of the required calculations; train other scientists and students to carry out useful calculations; ensure GlyCORE participants are aware of the capabilities of CCBRC; hold primary responsibility for computer hardware and software maintenance; write initial drafts of reports; take an active role in dissemination of CCBRC results and capabilities; and handle other duties involved in the management of CCBRC. The Research Scientist will also be in charge of the day-to-day oversight of the CCBRC facility. The Research Scientist will present results of CCBRC's research at GlyCORE meetings and at national meetings such as those of the Society for Glycobiology or the American Chemical Society.

Candidates should have a computational PhD with specialization in glycoscience, medicinal chemistry, chemistry, biology, biophysics, bioinformatics, or a related field; three years of relevant postdoctoral experience; and an outstanding publication record.
