Position Summary
The Armbruster lab with the Department of Microbiology and Immunology studies microbe-microbe and host-microbe interactions in the context of the catheterized urinary tract. A current NIH funded project focuses on interactions between bacterial pathogens and the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer of the bladder, with the goal of understanding how bacterial GAG degradation alters immune signaling in the bladder. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate with expertise in flow cytometry and studying host-microbe interactions with a focus on the host innate immune response.
The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for:
Designing antibody panels to examine the bladder innate immune response during various challenges, including bacterial infection.
Participating in developing and optimizing infection models. In addition, the postdoctoral associate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, gain experience in studying polymicrobial interactions, receive mentoring towards research and career development, attend and present at conferences, and participate in mentoring others if desired.
