SC State University's Department of Engineering has a postdoctoral researcher position available in commercial motor vehicles. The selected candidate will work with faculty mentors and researchers in the Department of Engineering and will be co-supervised by Drs. Mwakalonge and Siuhi. The appointment is for one year but may be extended for an additional year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The postdoctoral researcher will participate in an interdisciplinary, funded research project on work zone safety for commercial motor vehicles. The postdoctoral candidate is expected to conduct research within a larger team led by Drs. Mwakalonge and Siuhi should have strong technical, communication, and project management skills-other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements for Position:

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering (with a focus on transportation) or a related field

Preferred Requirements for Position:

At least 3 years of research experience; fluency in English; excellent communication skills; demonstrated technical competence in the above area; a solid publication record; and strong coding skills. The willingness and ability to acquire new skills and knowledge as needed during the project, to work effectively and cooperatively with others, and to manage time effectively is expected. Other desired qualifications include experience with ROS and GIS as well as proficiency in optimization, control, and game theory.
