Position overview

The Rebola Laboratory at the Paris Brain Institute (ICM) is recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate how cellular and molecular mechanisms shape information encoding and computation in neocortical circuits. The successful candidate will lead an ambitious project on synaptic and circuit mechanisms of sensory processing in primary visual cortex (V1), combining state-of-the-art in vivo approaches with quantitative data analysis.

About the lab and environment

The Rebola Lab (https://therebolalab.org) studies how variability in synaptic function across neuronal types shapes sensory coding and circuit computation, with a strong emphasis on neocortical cell diversity and synaptic properties. We integrate detailed biophysical work with in vivo circuit-level analyses. The Paris Brain Institute provides access to cutting-edge imaging, electrophysiology, behavioral platforms, and a vibrant collaborative neuroscience ecosystem in central Paris.

Key responsibilities You will:

Lead a project on synaptic and circuit mechanisms underlying sensory processing in V1

Implement advanced in vivo approaches, including two-photon imaging, optogenetics, and/or electrophysiology (e.g., Neuropixels)

Analyze and integrate multimodal datasets to link synaptic interactions to visual response properties

Contribute to a collaborative lab culture, including mentoring students and participating in team projects

Candidate profile (required) PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related field (by start date)
