Description:

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar invites applications for a postdoctoral position in our top-ranked Information Systems program. This position is designed for candidates who are interested in enhancing their teaching, along with their research portfolio, to be better prepared for future academic positions. The position expects the successful candidate to relocate to Carnegie Mellon's campus in Doha in Fall 2026. The position is available for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years based on performance and organizational needs.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow in Information Systems, responsibilities will include teaching, co-teaching, or supporting two to three undergraduate courses per year, working closely with students and faculty, and supporting our educational mission. Successful candidates are also expected to manage and grow their own research agenda potentially in collaboration with CMU-Q faculty and/or local partners.

The Information Systems Program at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers an undergraduate major which aims to educate local and international students to meet the increasing demand for information systems skills in Qatar, the Gulf region, and globally. We seek candidates who can contribute to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Our needs are for candidates who can assist or co-teach core information systems and concentrations courses and bring expertise in one or more of the following areas: emerging technologies and smart systems development, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, IS project consulting, business process intelligence, or related areas. CMU Qatar's benefits package is highly attractive, with salaries comparable to those in the US, but usually free of tax. Relocation, housing, transportation, and health benefits are also covered.

About CMU in Qatar

CMU in Qatar (CMUQ) operates in concert with several other American and European branch campuses under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation's Education City (https://www.qf.org.qa/education/education-city). The branch campus closely follows the admissions requirements and English language curriculum of the home campus in Pittsburgh, USA which awards all degrees. The several thousand students in the Education City are a broad mix of nationalities, but primarily from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. CMUQ's faculty is a mix of professionals hired specifically for this campus and seconded by faculty from the main campus. CMUQ's primary focus is undergraduate education in Artificial Intelligence, Business Administration, Biological Sciences, Computer Science, and Information Systems.

Have completed a PhD in Information Systems or related fields prior to starting work.

A clear plan for productive research in Information Systems.

Potential for developing expertise in Information Systems.

Exceptionally strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desire to gain hands-on teaching experience.

Be able to work independently, as well as in a team.
