Job Summary

The Jasper Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our growing research team. This position is supported by the Office of Research and will be supervised by Dr. Ning Wang. The successful candidate will be responsible for AI-driven materials discovery. Candidates with background in molecular modeling (molecular dynamics or Monte Carlo simulations), computational chemistry, machine learning, enhanced sampling methods, force field development, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Start date is flexible. the postdoc will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop integrated molecular simulation and machine learning workflows aimed at accelerating the discovery of novel materials for applications in chemical separations, water treatment, and climate change mitigation.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

Lead research efforts in integrated molecular simulation and machine learning workflows aimed at accelerating the discovery of novel materials.

Publish findings in high-impact peer-reviewed scientific conferences and journals.

Assist in preparing and writing research grant proposals.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Preferred Education/Experience

Research experience with artificial intelligence is preferred.

Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

The candidate should have excellent abilities in molecular modeling and simulations (molecular dynamics or Monte Carlo simulations) and/or machine learning techniques. We seek a creative, detail-oriented, and highly motivated person with strong scientific background and excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
