Posting Summary

The group of Dr. Chong Sun in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of theoretical chemistry and machine learning. Candidates with experience in method development and high-performance computing are especially encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, computer science, or a related field is required. Minimum Education and Experience

Minimum Education: Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, computer science, or a related field, or Ph.D. expected by May 2026.

Experience:

Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas:

* Methodology development in wavefunction-based electronic structure methods, quantum Monte Carlo, tensor networks, or quantum embedding methods, etc.

* ML-augmented numerical method development.

* High-performance computing (HPC).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong background in quantum chemistry, computational physics, or machine learning; Proficiency in scientific programming; Excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
