Applicants are encouraged to review the institution’s mission, vision and strategic plan, and consider how their background, interest and experience would enable them to support the university.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
The LeBlanc lab is looking for a curious mind with a passion for research and science outreach to join our operation. We conduct research at the interface of physics, chemistry, and biology in a highly collaborative environment. We use tools and techniques from biophysics, biochemistry, and molecular biology. The goal of the funded research project is to uncover the detailed molecular mechanisms of biological pathways (especially ribosome assembly) by studying transient protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions that drive the pathways forward at the single-molecule level. Our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art tools to express, purify, fluorescently label, and monitor enzymes in action. The centerpiece of our lab is a custom single-molecule time-resolved fluorescence microscope capable of FLIM, PIE-FRET, and FCS measurements. The funding also supports outreach projects.
The postdoctoral research scholar will use single-molecule time-resolved fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy to study the detailed mechanisms of ribosome assembly and other essential biological pathways. Specifically, we are interested in exploring the mechanism of action of key ATPases in the ribosome assembly pathway. The successful candidate will conduct experiments, analyze data, communicate effectively with our collaborators, and prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
Other Work/Responsibilities:
The postdoc will also mentor junior lab members and work with other lab members on outreach initiatives funded by the grant. Other duties include those required for basic functioning of a biophysics lab. Occasional night and weekend work is required to meet deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
