美国匹兹堡大学生物医学方向研究助理/博士后助理职位
Research Associate/Post Doctoral Associate
University of Pittsburgh
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Job Number: 7074420
Posting Date: Jan 25, 2021
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
Lab Description:
Our lab is a growing group of life science/bioengineering undergraduates, medical students and surgical residents investigating strategies to ameliorate pathological fibrosis and promote regeneration of functional soft tissues. The lab's research efforts focus on exploring mechanisms through which adipose cells, including endothelial cells, stem cells and adipocytes, engage with immune cells and induce detrimental inflammation. We are developing novel in vivo chronic wound models and ex vivo organoid culture systems to identify disrupted cell signaling pathways that lead to chronic phagocyte activation and drive aberrant extracellular matrix production, tissue hardening and generation of reactive oxygen species. Our goal is to engineer therapeutic strategies to treat tissue fibrosis, dysfunctional wound healing and vascular inflammation in metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases.
Open Positions:
Multiple positions are open and include Research Associate and Postdoctoral Associates. The candidates should hold a PhD or/and MD degree within biology, cellular, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology and/or physiology. Experience with cell culture, basic biochemical techniques, immunocytochemistry or immunological technology is essential. Experience with animal study is an advantage.
Candidates will have ample opportunities to acquire and develop new skills, work closely with the PI and collaborators while working in a supportive, highly collaborative, and energetic environment. State-of-the-art facilities are available within an exceptional research setting. We are a results-oriented group of highly motivated scientists who perform basic and translational research on dysfunctional soft tissue healing. Critical competencies include integrity, resourcefulness/initiative, good team player, enthusiasm & passion, decision making, and ability to acquire understanding and absorb information rapidly. Successful candidates must be able to generate new and creative approaches to problems. We’re always looking for people with those skills who thrive in teams and dynamic environments.
