Job Summary

NIH sponsored research program aimed at understanding the cell and molecular properties of oral-derived stem cells and their role in tissue regenerative applications. Our research laboratory is located at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and the selected candidate will investigate the regenerative and immunomodulatory properties of oral-derived stem cells. The fellow will have a particular focus on how these stem cells affect tissue regeneration and host immunity. The candidate should have proficiency in animal handling in addition to experience in some of the following laboratory techniques: tissue culture, standard cell and molecular biology assays (i.e. Western blotting, qPCR, protein/RNA/DNA isolation techniques, flow cytometry), histological preparation and analyses of tissue sections (H&E, IHC, IF, etc.); advanced imaging/microscopy modalities (i.e. microCT, confocal). In addition to performing experiments, the fellow will present data, prepare manuscripts, and participate in research group data discussions.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. with a degree in Immunology, Stem Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Cancer Biology, or Cell and Molecular Biology. The candidate should also have experience with animal models, preferentially applied to regenerative medicine research.
