英国爱丁堡大学:化学生物学、生物有机化学、生物催化等领域博士后招聘

College of Science and Engineering

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doc to work on a project at the chemical biology interface. We aim to use a combined biocatalytic and chemocatalytic approach to prepare synthetic membrane vesicles composed of sphingolipids. This exciting jointly-funded (BBSRC and NSF) project is a new collaboration between Dominic Campopiano (University of Edinburgh) and two experts in the USA - Eric Klein (Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey) and Ziqiang Guan (Duke University, North Carolina). This post will involve the purification and characterisation of a wide variety of recombinant enzymes and their use in sphingolipid vesicle preparation.

We will assemble expression constructs using the Edinburgh Genome Foundry and test their activity in whole cell and cell-free assays.

Applicants should have (or be near completion of) a PhD in chemical biology, bio-organic chemistry, biocatalysis, or a closely related field. A successful candidate is likely to have experience with biocatalyst isolation, enzyme assay and relevant analytical skills (e.g. NMR, mass spectrometry). The candidate should have an excellent academic track record (commensurate with their career stage and experience), ideally including peer-reviewed published work. They are expected to be active in developing the project, to collaborate with all team members, and to contribute to the mentoring/training of PhD students and project students. The candidate will benefit from training in the vibrant scientific environment provided be the School of Chemistry in Edinburgh, as well as in the laboratories of our international partners. More information about the Campopiano group can be found here (campopianosite.wixsite.com/campopiano).

This full time role is expected to commence as soon as possible from 1st September 2020 and is fixed term for up to 3 years.

Closing date: Thursday 30th July 2020 at 5pm (GMT).
