A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the Dean Group at the John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK to study antisense-mediated transcriptional regulation.
About the John Innes Centre:
The John Innes Centre is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant science, genetics and microbiology. We nurture a creative, curiosity led approach to answering fundamental questions in bioscience, and translate that knowledge into societal benefits.
Our employees enjoy access to state-of-the-art technology technology and a diverse range of specialist training opportunities, including support for leadership and management. Click here to find out more about working at the John Innes Centre.
About the Dean Group:
The Dean group studies mechanisms of RNA-mediated chromatin regulation using genetic, molecular, and most recently, structural analysis (with MRC, LMBCambridge). We investigate the sense-antisense circuitry at the Arabidopsis floral repressor locus FLC, how it links to alternative chromatin states that mediate transcriptional output and epigenetic switching, and how this has enabled adaptation to a range of habitats.
The role:
Working as part of a team led by Professor Caroline Dean, you will work on a research project dissecting how an RNA-binding protein (FCA), RNA 3’ processing factors and chromatin modifiers interact mechanistically to transcriptionally regulate FLC.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact closely with the Norwich team of ~ 10, all focused on FLC regulation, exploit a wealth of previously generated resources, and collaborate widely with other groups internationally.
The ideal candidate:
You will have a PhD in Molecular Biology or similar. You will have knowledge of transcriptional/chromatin control and/or non-coding RNA function, and demonstrable success in scientific writing and oral research presentations.
Additional information:
Interviews are expected to be held in early June by video-link.
