  瑞士巴塞尔分子及眼科研究院博士后职位

The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) has a position for a molecular biologist to unravel the molecular pathways of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a complex retinal disease in the elderly with a strong genetic basis. Leaders of the project are Prof. Caroline Klaver and Prof. Botond Roska. We are looking for an ambitious post-doctoral fellow with solid training in cell and molecular biology to join our team of researchers. The project is translational and aims to decipher the function of genetic risk variants for AMD using a plethora of the most advanced, state-of-the-art, techniques such as single cell sequencing, organoids, animal models, computational techniques for tissue profiling, and big data from clinical cohorts.

IOB is a new research institute combining basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its related diseases and to develop new therapies for vision loss. It is a place where your expertise will be valued, your abilities challenged, and your knowledge expanded. The laboratories are fully equipped with sequencing, confocal, proteomics, and stem cell facilities, and researchers work in close connection with the clinical center at the University of Basel. We have a vast national and international network of collaborators due to our participation in multiple projects and EU-funded collaborations.

  Your responsibilities

  ·         Create a new line of research on AMD. Coordinate the efforts of research platforms specializing in viral transgenics, organoids, and single cell genomics.

  ·         Hands-on performance of experiments in vitro and in vivo, including cell and tissue culture, animal models, immunostaining and imaging, vision testing, and DNA/RNA profiling.

  ·         Supervise junior scientists and students. Manage ethical permits and grant reporting.

  ·         Analyze and interpret complex data sets and synthesize the results in the form of publications.

  Requirements

  ·         Doctoral degree in molecular biology or an equivalent area.

  ·         Strong prior experience in retinal biology, animal models of disease, and/or molecular biology.

  ·         Competence in standard molecular biology techniques such as Western blot, immunohistochemistry, light and confocal microscopy, PCR, and molecular cloning. Experience in bioinformatics including genomics and transcriptomics is preferred.

  ·         Only highly motivated individuals with a deep desire to understand retinal functionality at the cellular and molecular level will be considered.

  Additional information

  ·         Regular European travel may be required

  We offer

IOB is situated in Basel, Switzerland, a city in the center of Europe offering an outstanding scientific and cultural environment. We offer an international and dynamic research environment with competitive compensation and benefits. IOB is an equal-opportunity employer.
