  英国牛大学量子材料博士后研究助理招聘(2个职位)

UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

  CLARENDON LABORATORY, OXFORD

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Quantum Materials (2 posts)

  Grade 7: £ 32,236 – £ 39,609 pa

  Fixed term (3 years)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Quantum Materials

The project is part of a research programme to investigate emergent properties of quantum condensed matter systems in the presence of strong electron correlations and spin-orbit couplings in the Quantum Magnetism group led by Prof Radu Coldea. The group has a strong research track record in the discovery and exploration of novel forms of electronic order and dynamics, and quantum phase transitions in magnetic materials. The successful candidate will be an ambitious scientist keen to work on challenging experimental research projects to investigate the physics of novel frustrated quantum magnets and topological magnetic materials.

The role will involve performing neutron and x-ray scattering experiments as well as structural characterization and physical properties measurements, analysing, understanding and presenting the results.

Applicants should possess, or be close to completing a doctorate in physics or a related field to the research area of the role.

Previous experience with some or all of the following will be an advantage: (i) diffraction experiments to determine crystal/magnetic structures, (ii) inelastic scattering experiments to determine lattice/spin dynamics, (iii) familiarity with software packages for diffraction/inelastic scattering data analysis and aptitude for programming, (iv) solid-state materials synthesis and/or single crystal growth, (v) a research background in an area related to correlated electron physics.

Candidates are expected to have a strong record of personal research and achievement, very good communication/scientific report writing/presentation skills, ability to work well independently as well as in a team, strong self-motivation.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach.

Please direct enquiries about the role to Prof Radu Coldea radu.coldea@physics.ox.ac.uk

Only applications received before midday 23 September 2019 can be considered. You will be required to upload a supporting statement including research interests and how you meet the selection criteria, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
