Postdoc in Membrane protein characterization

The structural enzymology group is interested on the systems involved with membrane protein crystallography and characterization. The main techniques used are cloning, expression purification and crystallization and kinetic characterization. The Post doc will focus on kinetic and structural studies of the magnesium transport systems MgtA and MgtB from E coli and Salmonella. The work will include

◦Design of construct for various hetero membrane complexes MgtA and MgtB are involved with.

◦Expression, Protein purification of associated partners and membrane proteins. Constructs and Expression protocols of the individual components are available

◦Biochemical characterisation and kinetic studies

◦Crystallisation, structure determination

Responsibilities and qualifications

Formal requirement with regard to education is a PhD in biochemistry /molecular biology as minimum.

◦Experience with protein chemistry, protein crystallography and biophysical methods is preferred

◦Work knowledge of Word and Excel and kinetic software

◦The group has a number of international collaborations and the position requires applicants to be highly organized and fluent in English

◦Open and friendly nature, not afraid to learn something new

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2.5 years starting date 1st of August 2022
