Position Description

The Laboratory of Dr. Edward Owusu-Ansah, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology & Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is seeking Postdoctoral Research Scientists (up to two positions available). Dr. Owusu-Ansah’s laboratory studies the genetic and molecular basis of Mitochondrial Complex I assembly using Drosophila as a model system, but with the ultimate goal of confirming our findings in mammalian systems.

The candidates should be self-motivated, with excellent written and oral communication skills. The Postdoctoral scientist’s duties will include designing and performing experiments, data analysis and interpretation, as well as writing of manuscripts.

The positions will require strong organizational skills and offers an excellent opportunity for training in a vigorous research setting.

Position works with chemicals and formaldehyde/xylenes

Qualifications

All applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD in cell or developmental biology, physiology, genetics or similar discipline.

Experience and interest in Drosophila genetics, confocal microscopy, biochemistry and mitochondrial biology is preferred.
