The Rutgers Emotion, Health and Behavior (REHAB) Lab at the Department of Psychology of Rutgers University is seeking post-doctoral applicants with strong clinical skills and research experience, especially with a focus on anxiety and health. This two-year position is particularly well suited for someone who wishes to gain supervised experience (clinical assessment and intervention) in clinical psychology to prepare them for licensure.
The postdoctoral associate will have the opportunity to work on an NIH-funded study – a Phase II efficacy trial of our novel cognitive-behavioral intervention, Behavioral Exposure For Interoceptive Tolerance (BE-FIT), to target exercise anxiety and increase physical activity adherence in patients attending outpatient cardiac rehabilitation. The position entails liaising with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital physicians and staff, study coordination, participant recruitment, data collection/management, data analysis, acting as a study therapist delivering the BE-FIT intervention, and mentorship in the areas of health psychology research and practice.
A doctoral degree in psychology (e.g., health, social, clinical, or counseling), public health, kinesiology, or a related field is required. Prior experience in clinical trial research with an interest in clinical health psychology and focus in anxiety is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, strong data analytic skills, and superb written and verbal communication skills are desired.

Minimum Education and Experience
Doctoral degree in psychology (e.g., health, social, clinical, or counseling), public health, kinesiology, or a related field is required to ensure adequate scientific training and clinical experience to carry out study management duties as well as competent supervised delivery of the clinical intervention.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills as well as strong clinical skills are required.
Prior experience in clinical trial research with an interest in clinical health psychology and focus in anxiety is preferred. Strong data analytic skills (SPSS, Process, etc.) and superb written and verbal communication skills are desired.
Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in one or more of the following areas: (a) research in behavioral medicine, (b) clinical trial coordination, © data management, (d) clinical intervention in medical setting/for medical population, (e) exposure interventions for anxiety disorders.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The postdoc will be familiar with technology such as the wearable physiological monitors (Fitbits) participants will be using as well as electronic health records. This skill is not required to obtain the position. They will also use software such as Excel and SPSS for data management.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The primary work environment will be the Cardiac Rehab clinics of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Applicants will arrange own transportation to RWJ facility in downtown New Brunswick and should have a professional clinical demeanor appropriate to a behavioral medicine setting and ability to work effectively within a coordinated care team.
