Job description

The Centre for Dementia Research wish to appoint an experienced dementia researcher to work on an exciting Alzheimer's Society funded study, which aims to develop an intervention to improve the care of people with dementia in acute hospital settings.

Working alongside Prof Claire Surr, the applicant will be responsible all aspects of the research process at the Leeds site of a multi-site study. This will involve working collaboratively with the Chief Investigator Dr Melanie Handley, researchers from the Universities of Hertfordshire (lead) and Nottingham and with staff in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to deliver the project. The post holder will undertake recruitment and consent of participants, undertaking observational, interview and quantitative data collection and analysis, engaging in co-production of an intervention, supporting intervention implementation and evaluation and contribution to study reporting and dissemination.

The applicant will have experience of conducting research with older people and with people with dementia. They will have a PhD or will be close to submission of their thesis. Experience of use of a range of research methods and of conducting research in hospital settings and/or with NHS staff will be advantageous. The post holder will be based within the Centre for Dementia Research. We are an internationally recognised Centre conducting applied research in dementia care. We have a vibrant PhD community and engage with staff from across the university and external partners to deliver a broad range of research programmes.
