The Research Fellow will work on funded projects under the supervision of Professor George Curry and Associate Professor Gina Koczberski. Many of the projects involve working with smallholders whose main income is coffee, cocoa, oil palm and vegetables. The person will work closely with other project research investigators in Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Spend extended periods in PNG conducting fieldwork in line with project objectives

Work closely with rural women

Work in multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural research teams

Achieve project objectives and meet deadlines

Produce high quality research papers and reports

Assist with the supervision of HDR and Honours students

Assist in some teaching in the undergraduate program

We are looking for someone with…

PhD in Geography, Anthropology or a related discipline

Fieldwork experience in the Pacific, especially in Melanesia

Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Capacity to communicate in tokpisin highly desirable

Capacity to collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data

Evidence of high quality research publications
