JOB DESCRIPTION We aim at developing next generation precision medicines for unmet medical needs. Our focus is the engineering of innovative immunomodulatory biologics. Within this endeavor, we have created alphaSEPT. AlphaSEPT is a novel signaling molecule within the human immune system. It is a potential first-in- class pharmaceutical to treat sepsis, an infectious disease with very high mortality rates and no causative treatment options available. Currently, we are looking for a highly motivated protein biochemist to strengthen our growing team. The ideal candidate will drive pre-clinical development of alphaSEPT as a biopharmaceutical. He/She will work on the production, biophysical characterization and development of alphaSEPT towards a biopharmaceutical ready for the clinics. The candidate will work in the in-house lab at TUM as well as with several academic cooperation partners at other institutions and contract research organizations (CROs).

RESPONSIBILITIES • Co-development of alphaSEPT lead candidates • Evaluation of protein expression systems (e.g. mammalian, bacterial) • Development of protein purification for large scale purification • Biophysical characterization of proteins • Drug substance formulation development • Co-Development lead of a research and master cell bank • Data analysis and presentations • Establishing of standard operating procedures (SOPs) • Co-Lead of a small team

QUALIFICATIONS • PhD in protein biochemistry or similar fields • Substantial expertise in mammalian cell culture • Substantial expertise in protein expression, protein purification and biophysical characterization • Experience in protein engineering as well as (pre-)clinical development of biopharmaceuticals (e.g. formulation development) and molecular immunology is a plus • Know-how in GLP and GMP requirements is a plus

THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE POSITION The position is initially associated with the Cellular Protein Biochemistry laboratory (www. cell.ch.tum.de) of Prof. Matthias J. Feige at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), a leading research university in Europe. The salary is in accordance to the Public Sector Collective Agreement on Länder (TV-L E13/100%). In the beginning, the position is limited to two years. The earliest starting date is January 15th 2020. Only applications received until November 30th 2020 will be considered.
