Job Summary
Job Duties
Conduct research on the role of epigenetic modifications in transcription and reprogramming factors, as well as the role of inflammation and metabolomics in cardiac preservation. Investigate the mechanisms mediated by ischemia- reperfusion in causing heart injury and how this can be minimized by modern pharmacological and molecular tools. Explore novel targets to improve heart preservation and decrease rejection following transplantation, using epigenetic biochemistry, OMICS techniques and animal models for examining heart preservation and injury following transplantation. Design and execute experimental work, conduct data analysis, attend and present at internal, national, and international meetings, and publish data in top scientific journals.
Mission Statement
The University of Michigan Health System improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Requires PhD in Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, or closely related field + 2 years of research experience in cardiovascular biology, using bioinformatics, epigenetics, and pharmacological therapeutics to improve myocardial preservation for transplantation.
