Job Description

Summary

Postdoctoral project will include the following components:

(1) identification of human proteins and in-use drugs that can reduce DNA damage in cells with and without external ionizing radiation. These would protect against development of cancers, slow biological aging, protect cells from environmental mutagens, and may protect astronauts from high levels radiation in space;

(2) development of a blood biomarker assay for prediction of cancers before they occur, and for indication of negative outcomes in ongoing cancers,  in mouse (collaboration with Jihye Yun) and, in collaboration with the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) Breast Program, in human in an ongoing clinical trial;

(3) understanding cellular drivers and mechanisms of DNA damage in cells, which leads to cancers.

Job Duties

·         Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.

·         Evaluates and analyzes data.

·         May establish new research protocols and procedures.

·         Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.

·         May be responsible for laboratory operations.

·         May supervise research staff.

Minimum Qualifications

·         MD or Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

·         No experience required.
