Postdoctoral researcher position available to study signaling pathways in the immune system

The Department of Physiology at UCLA is seeking to recruit a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow immediately with extensive training in molecular biology and immunology, including experience in working with small animals. Our laboratory has made important contributions to the field of store-operated Ca2+ (SOC) entry in immune cells, including identification of the components of the SOC channels, characterization of their biochemical and functional properties using biochemical (protein purification), biophysical (whole cell patch-clamp recordings), imaging (confocal and TIRF) and genetic (knockout animals) tools. Our recent research identified novel function of a SOC channel component in cellular nucleic acid sensing pathway. Our research utilizes cellular and organismal studies using primary human and murine immune cells and knockout mice.

The ideal candidate will be a recent Ph.D. graduate, with a strong background in life science research exemplified in two first author publications. The trainee will learn cutting edge molecular biology, cell biology and high-resolution imaging techniques, including high throughput screens, genome editing, single-cell calcium imaging, analysis of knock out cells/mice, as well as in vivo experiments with animal models of multiple sclerosis or pathogen infections. Applicants should possess strong bench, collaboration and communication skills.
