At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.
The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a researcher position in the field of neuroendocrinology at the Department of Physiology.
Job assignments
The scientific activities include experimental molecular biology studies and in vivo studies that aim at exploring the neurobiological mechanisms important for food intake related behavior and hormonal regulation of such mechanisms.
The employee will design and conduct experiments in line with the project objectives. Tasks include planning and implementation of experimental studies, as well as analyzing, and processing the results statistically and to produce scientific reports. It is expected that the applicant will present the results at international conferences. Additional tasks include teaching and administration.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant subject, eg Physiology, Pharmacology, Psychology, Neuroscience or Nutrition. Experience in experimental surgical methods for central administration, good knowledge in immunohistochemistry and experience in behavioral studies is important. In addition, knowledge of general molecular biology techniques such as techniques to explore changes in gene expression, eg, in situ hybridization, microarray, taqman array is advantageous. A well-established understanding of neuroanatomy is also advantageous. The applicant is expected to use English in the research environment.
In the assessment, emphasis will be placed on relevant experience of experimental in vivo studies including central administration as well as studies investigating behaviours linked to appetite, and/or in-depth knowledge in the field of research.
Great importance will be attached on personal suitability.
Employment
The employment is a permanent position, 100% of full-time and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as soon as possible or as agreed. Probation may be applied.
