英国剑桥大学器官保存方向博士后招聘
Applications are invited for a one-year full-time MPhil studentship based in the University of Cambridge Department of Surgery commencing in October 2020. The post is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Blood and Transplant Research Unit (BTRU) in Organ Donation and Transplantation (https:// odt.btru.nihr.ac.uk) and will be based at Addenbrooke's Hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (https:// cambridge- biomedical.com).
The BTRU in Organ Donation and Transplantation is one of four BTRUs funded by the NIHR in the UK and is a partnership between the University of Cambridge, Newcastle University and NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). The overarching aim of the BTRU is to develop and evaluate novel approaches and technologies that will increase the availability of suitable donor organs for transplantation, while improving graft survival. The University Department of Surgery in Cambridge is one of the largest and most active in the UK. Departmental research in transplantation addresses the two major problems in transplantation, namely the shortage of organs for transplantation and the loss of transplanted organs to graft rejection. The research being undertaken in the Department includes basic laboratory and translational clinical research projects. There is a strong emphasis on the development of normothermic organ perfusion techniques.
Cambridge has a very strong record for academic students and surgical trainees securing research grants and Fellowships and for winning major prizes at national and international research meetings.
The successful candidate will work towards an MPhil degree.
Funding will cover the student's stipend and University fees. The studentship is only available to UK nationals and EU students who meet the UK residency requirements.
Candidates should have (or expect to obtain) a first or upper second class degree in a relevant discipline.
Please send your application by email to Alison Warrington (acw39@cam.ac.uk), enclosing a covering letter, a detailed curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of two academic referees.
If you are invited to proceed further, you will need to make a full application to the University of Cambridge. You can find details on how to do this on the Board of Graduate Studies website: https:// www. graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/
