　　The laboratory of Nan Yang, PhD, at the Department of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, is seeking postdoctoral fellows with expertise in neuroscience to study the mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

　　Dr. Yang’s laboratory aims at translating emerging genetic findings from genomic studies into functional analyses with the goal of understanding the pathogenic underpinnings of ASD. The team uses multidisciplinary approaches including CRISPR gene editing, electrophysiology, single-cell sequencing, genetic and epigenetic analyses, and high-resolution imaging to characterize how the disease associated mutations impair neuronal properties and network activities. We also employ brain organoids combined with live-imaging and single-cell profiling to study the early molecular and cellular events, such as cell proliferation, migration and differentiation that are impaired by disease-causing mutations identified in recent large-scale genomic studies.

　　Qualifications and Experience

　　Basic qualifications:

　　·         PhD, MD/PhD in Neuroscience/Molecular Biology/Cellular Biology;

　　·         Demonstrated expertise in neuroscience;

　　·         Strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals;

　　·         Excellent communication skills;

　　·         Ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary team.

　　Preferred qualifications:

　　·         Experience with human stem cell cultures;

　　·         Familiarity with R and other statistical software.
