　　Positions available in the Noyes lab (www.noyeslab.com) of the Institute for Systems Genetics at the NYU School of Medicine. In the Noyes Lab we mainly address one of three molecular and biomedical themes: 1. Understanding how proteins determine target preference with DNA, RNA, and/or proteins. 2. The development of novel tools to manipulate genomes (CRISPR, ZFN, TALENs, etc) for the precise application of therapeutic gene regulation and repair. 3. The use synthetic biology to understand how proteins evolve.

　　One postdoc is needed to take the lead on projects that include the understanding of how the target preference of PDZ domains has evolved from prokaryotes to eukaryotes and how we might engineer target specificity for therapeutic applications. A second postdoc could investigate the development of novel genome engineering tools specifically focused on the therapeutic regulation of target genes. In addition, we are looking for a technician to support these projects with a heavy emphasis on the genome engineering platforms and their applications. This is a high throughput project but requires simple experimental techniques in e. coli, yeast, and human tissue culture. The support of this project is perfect for a young technician hoping to get a couple years of publishable research under their belt before applying to graduate school. Our lab has an outstanding track record of placing technicians in top graduate and medical programs.

　　Exceptional candidates will have experience working with bacteria and human tissue cultures, cloning, genome editing, and protein/nucleic acid library design. Familiarity with common modes of protein-DNA, protein-RNA or protein-protein interactions, as well as computational analysis of such interactions, is desirable.

　　For the postdoctoral candidates, completion of a PhD in molecular, cellular, or computation biology (or related field) is required by start date. For the technician, completion of a Bachelors degree in biology or related field is required. The ability to communicate clearly in writing, as well as verbally with a diverse set of collaborators, is a must.
