The postdoctoral associate is expected to use biochemical, molecular biology, cell culture and animal models. Will also develop and evaluate biologics that concurrently engage adipocyte metabolism and gap junction activity to improve the efficacy of the starting molecule.
Job Duties
The postdoctoral associate is expected to use biochemical, molecular biology, cell culture and animal models to:
Characterize the gap-junction dependent function of Connexin43 in enhancing pharmaceutical agents targeting adipose tissue metabolism.
Characterize how adipose-tissue Connexin43 gap junction affects breast milk production and the hormonal profile of the breast milk.
Study a gap-junction independent function of Connexin43 in adipocytes, including characterizing an adipose tissue-specific mitochondrial-targeted Connexin43 animal on normal chow and high-fat diet.
Develop screening assays, engage in the screening for receptors of a pharmaceutical Connexin43 gap junction activating peptide, and understand the signaling cascade downstream of this yet to be found receptor.
The postdoc will also develop and evaluate biologics that concurrently engage adipocyte metabolism and gap junction activity to improve the efficacy of the starting molecule.
