  Job description

  Your tasks as a Postdoc will include:

    completion of the assigned research tasks;

    regular presentation of intermediate research results at workshops and conferences;

    publication of at least 4 substantial articles in journals or edited volumes;

    co-editing of a collective work;

    coaching of PhDs;

    co-organisation of project workshops and conferences;

    participation in all project-related activities, including outreach activities.

  Qualifications

    a (soon to be completed) PhD degree in a relevant discipline (Literary and Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Cultural History);

    demonstrable academic excellence;

    demonstrable affinity with computational methods of text analysis;

    skills in text and discourse analysis;

    demonstrable affinity with cultural memory studies and/or social movement studies;

    excellent English oral proficiency, academic writing and presentation skills;

    ability to read primary source materials in at least one other European language;

    ability to meet deadlines and work both as an independent Researcher and as a team member;

    good organisational, social and communication skills.

  Offer

  We offer a temporary position (0.9 FTE) for the duration of one year. In case of good performance, extending the employment with one year is possible. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges between €2,709 and € 4,274 (scale 10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.   The Department of Language, Literature and Communication offers BA and MA programmes in Literary Studies, Linguistics, Communication Studies, Translation, as well as Dutch, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and (uniquely in the Netherlands) Celtic languages. Researchers in the ReAct project will be attached to the Research Institute for Cultural Inquiry (ICON) and to the Department of Languages, Literature, and Communication (TLC).
