Job Description
We welcome applications for a postdoctoral fellow position at University of Colorado Boulder to study the molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes (T2D). The postdoctoral fellow will join a highly collaborative and supportive group to investigate the functions of candidate genes in whole-body glucose homeostasis and their contributions to insulin resistance and T2D. We will focus on novel membrane trafficking genes identified in our genome-wide CRISPR genetic screens. The fellow will also perform CRISPR screens to identify new regulators of metabolism and insulin resistance. Our primary experimental approach will be mouse genetics, complemented by CRISPR knockout studies in cultured adipocytes and muscle cells. The project is supported by NIH funding and the postdoctoral fellow will receive a competitive salary and a comprehensive package of benefits including medical insurance, dental insurance, and retirement funds. The university sponsors H1 and J1 visas for international scholars. University of Colorado Boulder is one of the top comprehensive research universities in the United States (with four Nobel Laureates on current faculty), and ranks top 12 in federal funding. Located at the footsteps of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder is regarded as one of the best places to live in U.S.A., offering outstanding outdoor activities such as skiing, biking, and mountain hiking.
Requirements: A Ph.D. degree (or expected) in biological sciences or related disciplines is required. Experience in mouse genetics and/or mammalian cell culture is required. Priority will be given to applicants with at least one first-author publication or with a first-author manuscript fully written.
