DUTIES:

TEACHINGDUTIES(3% FTE):

RESEARCHDUTIES (97 % FTE):

COREEXPERIENCE: This position is for researcher with experience in development of animal models including transgenic mice, and other models such as mice or rat. Research work experience with metabolic alterations leading to changes in heart and muscle function, isolation of cardiomyocytes related to physiology and metabolic functioning will be an advantage. Understanding metabolic changes caused by pathological injury such as ischemia-reperfusion injury, influence on ion channels and physiology. Demonstrated ability to work under the supervision of team and execute the experiments planned for the research advancement including design of experiments, planning and execution in the laboratory with wet lab data acquisition and analysis and interpretation. Presenting data at laboratory meetings, record keeping, participating in meetings, seminars, and conferences. Order laboratory supplies to conduct the experiments. Participate in preparation of research material for manuscripts submissions and assist PI with grants.

Work in a team and coordinate the flow of work under the supervision of PI in the lab. Techniques such as cell or tissue imaging, Western blotting, qRT-PCR, primer designing, genotyping of mice, colony maintenance and breeding, RNA and DNA work is desirable. Use of RNAseq, analysis, ChipSeq and molecular biology techniques is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.

PREFERRED:

PhD with experience in related field of, Physiology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or equivalent. PhD graduates with 0-3 years of experience are eligible to apply.

OTHER:

Excellent communication/writing skills. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated with demonstrated ability to carry out independent research.
