　　A post-doctoral position is available for joining the team of Michel Slotman in the Dept of Entomology at Texas A&M university. Texas A&M is home to an outstanding group of vector biologists (https://vectorbiology.tamu.edu/faculty/), many of whom are housed within the Entomology department. The Slotman lab is part of the Western Gulf Center of Excellence for Vector - Borne Diseases (https://www.utmb.edu/wgcvbd), a partnership between 11 universities and various state and local public health agencies. TAMU (https://www.tamu.edu/) is among the largest research universities in the US with 4,700 academic staff, excellent resources, and expertise in a wide variety of fields.

　　Research in the Slotman lab (https://slotmanlab.tamu.edu/) focusses on population and behavioral genetics/genomics of disease transmitting mosquitoes, as well as on the impact of vector control on mosquito populations. Our research projects focus on African malaria mosquitoes, the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti, and Culex quinquefasciatus. The post-doc will work on an NIH-funded study on the role of circadian clock genes in mosquito behavior. Specifically, we are interested in examining how disabling the endogenous clock affects a variety of mosquito behaviors.

　　Candidates must have a PhD in biology, evolutionary biology, or related field. They should also have an interest in insect behavior or vector biology. Furthermore, candidates should have excellent skills in performing molecular lab procedures (PCR, qPCR, RNA extraction, next gen library prep etc.), as well as experience in the analysis of next gen sequence data.
