  瑞典运动认知研究的博士后研究员——制定一个测量运动和大脑活动的方案博士后职位

The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 450 employees and a revenue 2018 of 490 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

  The research environment

The position is situated within the uMOVE core facility, Karolinska Institutet, which is a knowledge centre that offers service in human movement sciences (visit the website here). uMOVE is a joint collaboration between the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS), the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health (KBH) and the Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) at Karolinska Institutet, and the Allied Health Professionals Function and the Children & Women’s Health Theme at Karolinska University Hospital. uMOVE offers a wide range of state-of-the-art motion analysis systems – from lab measurements to free-living assessment of daily activities, including cognition functions and emotions on motor control, to researcher, education and clinical work. The position will also be linked to Erika Franzén’s research group (http://ki.se/en/nvs/franzen-group) and the projects will be performed in collaboration with other research groups.

We are now recruiting a postdoctoral researcher who will work in collaboration with the uMOVE project group to develop protocols for assessment of cortical brain activity using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in different healthy populations across the life-span and clinical populations with mobility impairments. This project will focus on validity and reliability testing of fNIRS measurements in relation to the motor and cognitive performance during functional tasks (e.g. gait). The employment is full-time (possibility of part-time can be discussed), The postdoctoral position is expected to continue for at least 2 years but starts with a contract for 1 year with the possibility of extension. An employment as a postdoctoral fellow can be at most 4 years in Sweden.

The applicant is expected to work at both KI campuses, but mainly in Solna.

Area of responsibilities/description of the work

This research work will consist of usual tasks at postdoctoral level such as project design, data collection, processing, data analysis and statistical analysis. Writing scientific papers, grant applications and being able to present the research are important tasks. This postdoc work will be performed in close collaboration with the scientific director and project manager of the uMOVE core facility. There is also the possibility of designing own projects within the framework of uMOVE. This project is a major collaborative project, which means being able to collaborate and interact with different parties and lead and coordinate parts of the project. Teaching and supervision of students and doctoral students may occur.

  Entry requirements

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants should, in addition to this have in-depth statistical knowledge and preferably an undergraduate degree or PhD in physiotherapy, movement science, psychology or cognitive science. Previous experience and knowledge of analysis of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), or skills in processing and analysing data of brain activity using other methods (e.g. MRI / fMRI and EEG data), and laboratory-based motion analysis systems or clinical testing of cognitive and motor function is highly meritorious. Good programming skills, including experience with R, Python, Matlab, etc are a strong merit.

The successful candidate is expected to have a promising publication record, a strong drive to pursue research, be organized, structured and have an ambitious and innovative attitude. uMOVE collaborates with several research groups and clinicians, and good collaborative skills are necessary. Very good ability to speak and write English is a requirement. Being fluent in speech and writing in Swedish is a merit. Emphasis will be put on personal skills in the evaluation process.

  Application process

An employment application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:

A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work

  A complete list of publications

A summary of current work (no more than one page)

The application is to be submitted through the Varbi recruitment system.

Karolinska Institutet is one of the world’s leading medical universities. Its vision is to significantly contribute to the improvement of human health. Karolinska Institutet accounts for the single largest share of all academic medical research conducted in Sweden and offers the country’s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet selects the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.

Pursuant to the regulations of the Swedish National Archives, applications are kept on file for two years after the appointment has gained legal force. The regulations do not apply to attachments that have been printed or otherwise published.

Karolinska Institutet strives to provide a workplace that has approximately the same number of women and men, is free of discrimination and offers equal opportunity to everyone.
