  丹麦科技大学微生物糖工程博士后职位

The Section of Protein Science and Biotherapeutics at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine has an opening for a position as postdoctoral researcher. The position will be available from November 2019 or soon thereafter.

The successful applicant will work within the newly established research group ‘Glycoengineering and Innovation’ headed by Professor Steffen Goletz and is partially funded by a NNF Strategic Award.

In our research group, we apply and develop advanced glycoengineering technologies to elucidate the role of glycosylations for the microbiome, disease and complex immunological networks and use these for identifying novel drug targets and generating novel drug candidates and therapeutic strategies. Our focus lies within glycoimmunology, microbiome glycoengineering, glycomic and glycomimetic display systems as well as molecular and cellular glycoengineering, antibody engineering, phage display technologies, and mammalian bioprocess engineering.

  Responsibilities and tasks

Within the NNF funded research program of Glycoengineering of the Microbiome the newly recruited postdoctoral researcher will have the potential to lead the line of research in: Microbiota-based high-density display systems

In this project, we will identify and glycoengineer components of the microbiota for high-density display. This includes microbiome research and glycoengineering, lipidomics, generation of chemical coupling technologies as well as studying interactions of the microbiota for developing new therapeutic strategies especially in the area of anti-infectives.

  Qualifications

Applicants should hold a PhD in a life sciences discipline, have excellent communication skills and be extensively trained in biochemistry, carbohydrate and coupling chemistries, lipid and protein chemistry, microbiology, expression and purification of proteins, and has strong experience in microbiota research. Prior successful postdoctoral research and supervision of PhD students is not mandatory but would be highly advantageous, and knowledge in lipidomics would be a strong asset. The ideal candidate would be also familiar with a broad spectrum of immune-based assays and with anti-infective and/or auto-immune diseases.

  Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

You can read more about career paths at DTU here.

The position will be located at the DTU Lyngby campus in the recently established research building 225 hosting state-of-the-art laboratories for e.g. protein science, phage display, microbiome research, immunology and cellular research, mammalian bioprocessing as well as the DTU Proteomics Core.

The position is for 3 years.
