英国罗萨斯研究分子植物病理学博士后职位
Postdoctoral Researcher – Molecular Plant Pathology
Salary Details: £29,842 – £32,315 per annum
Location: Harpenden
Work Area: Science Capabilities
Closing Date: 12 Sep 2019
Overview Of Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the wheat pathogenomics team for a post-doctoral scientist to further explore the wheat – Fusarium graminearum interaction. The research will be specifically aimed at improving our understanding of how different Fusarium secreted effector proteins (FgSSPs) are deployed both spatially and temporally to permit the fungal hyphae to either successfully evade plant perception or suppress plant defences during the early phases of the infection, whilst other FgSSPs subsequently activate plant cell death. The research tools to be used will include Virus-mediated protein overexpression (VOX) in wheat and N. benthamiana, RNASeq, various types of stable Fg reporter strains, yeast two hybrid, Chip-Seq and promoter deletion analyses.
The post holder will also be involved in supervising PhD students and in developing future research directions. This post is part of the BBSRC funded Designing Future Wheat cross institute programme which is due for renewal in April 2022.
The successful candidate will have a strong publication record, showing evidence of working at an international level. Technical and methodological skills together with proven experience in designing and delivering research projects is essential. A working knowledge of wheat – fungal interactions although an asset is not an essential criterion for this role.
This is a full-time fixed term appointment to 31st March 2022 (in the 1st instance) offering a salary in the range of £29,842 to £32,315 per annum. Interviews will be carried out during the period 23rd-25th Sept 2019
