  德国法兰克福大学神经血管研究,细胞和分子生物学博士后招聘

The Group of Neuro and Vascular Guidance (Prof. Dr. Acker-Palmer) at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the following two positions:

  Postdoctoral Researchers (m/f/d)

  (E13 TV-G-U)

Both positions are available from 01.01.2020 until initially 31.12.2021. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe-University (TV-G-U).

The Goethe University Frankfurt, positioned among the top international research universities, offers a wide variety of academic programmes, a diverse group of research institutes, and a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex problems. Today, the Goethe University is the only university in Germany which enjoys significant public funding alongside administrative autonomy and the ability to create a private endowment. Situated in Germany’s most cosmopolitan and international city, the university attracts a diverse body of students and researchers from around the world and is with about 48.000 students and 5.000 employees the biggest university in Hessen.

Our Group is part of the Buchmann Institute for Molecular Life Sciences and the Institute of Cell Biology and Neuroscience at the Campus Riedberg.

We are particularly interested in the development and the homeostasis of the central nervous system, with a focus on understanding the molecular pathways that govern the communication between the cells constituting the neurovascular unit. In order to delineate the crosstalk between the different cellular components of the brain, we use the cre-lox technology to uncouple core players in different in vivo mouse models, which we combine with molecular and cellular approaches. We study different brain areas, such as cerebral cortex, hippocampus and cerebellum, and we analyse different physiological aspects of neuronal development and function, blood brain barrier integrity, neurovascular coupling, and also pathological scenarios such as neuroinflammation and stroke.

  General requirements:

We are seeking highly motivated and talented candidates with strong background in neurovascular research, cellular and molecular biology. Candidates must have prior experience in the neurovascular field. Candidates are required to have a PhD in natural science disciplines although we encourage interdisciplinary work and will also consider candidates with a background in physics and experience in 2-Photon imaging with a keen interest in functional mechanisms of the neurovascular unit. Moreover, part of our project analyses the neurovascular communication in vivo using zebrafish model. Candidates with experience in this animal model are also encouraged to apply.

Our laboratory is part of a multidisciplinary and modern institute which is highly international, dynamic and scientifically stimulating. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are required. The common language in the institute is English. Experience in student supervision and successful attendance at courses on laboratory animals according to FELASA recommendations is a plus.

As an equal opportunity employer, applications of women are specifically invited. In the case of equal qualifications, competence, and specific achievements, women will be considered on preferential terms within the framework of the legal possibilities. The Goethe University is committed to giving preference to handicapped candidates with equivalent qualifications.

The limitation of the contract is based upon the regulations of the ‘Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz’ in conjunction with the ‘Hessischen Hochschulgesetz’.

Please be aware that we are not able to send application documents back to any candidate nor can we provide support for application costs. Thus, we recommend submitting all documents electronically. The application documents of unsuccessful candidates will be discarded after the application process.
