Postdoctoral Fellows and Project Scientist

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, USA

Job Title:  Postdoctoral Fellows and Project Scientist

Status:  Regular Full Time

Benefits Eligible:  Yes

Position Description:

We are inviting top talents to join us while we are beginning our scientific endeavor at the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Institute of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, the new home of a well-established research program. Our work explores gender disparities in cancer and our research has led to a new concept of the epigenetic sex. We seek to decipher the sex epigenome, characterize candidate sex-biasing factors, and identify sex-specific therapeutic targets. We focus on bladder cancer because it exhibits the striking gender disparity that is not explained by known factors and because bladder cancer patients (a small fraction) respond well to immunotherapies. In addition to cancers, we are also interested in benign urologic diseases such as urinary tract infections and bladder regeneration/repair. Positions that require different levels of experience are currently available. Project Scientist works independently and in collaboration with the Principal Investigator to make significant and creative contributions toadvance our goals. Postdoctoral Fellows also work independently but in close interaction and consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists. All positions will hone research, critical thinking, scientific writing, and leadership skills. The positions also provide incredible opportunities to work on translational disease models while being supported by a community of talented clinicians and researchers and to collaborate with various laboratories with expertise in cancer immunology, microbiota, metabolism, etc. Candidates may join ongoing projects to examine the impacts of genetic, epigenetic, immunity and microbiota on the gender disparities in cancer (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6007159/). We welcome all lab members to explore other avenues of innovative research within the scope of gender disparities. Highly motivated, independent, and creative individuals are encouraged to apply. We look for colleagues to succeed together as a team. We also offer competitive salaries commensurate with training and experience. Cedars-Sinai is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

Key qualifications include:

•A Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree

•A strong track record of productivity

•Experience in cancer biology, tumor immunology, infection, microbiology, epigenetics, and/or molecular biology

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
