  丹麦奥尔胡斯大学博士后职位

The Department of Chemistry and iNANO, Aarhus University, is seeking a candidate for a two-year full time post-doctoral position. In case further external funding is secured within the academic area the candidate is assessed obviously qualified for, an extension is possible for up to a total maximum of 4 years of employment as a postdoc.

The position involves two main tasks: 1) commissioning and operation of the powder X-ray diffraction instrument at the new materials science beamline, DanMAX – www.maxiv.lu.se/danmax, at the MAX IV 3 GeV synchrotron storage ring in Lund, Sweden. 2) Research using the beamline and similar complementary facilities under the supervision of the beamline scientist.

The DanMAX beamline is a collaboration between Aarhus University, the Technical University of Denmark, University of Copenhagen, and Lund University. It is designed to perform materials science using 15-35 keV X-rays for powder X-ray diffraction and full field imaging. There is a strong focus on in-situ and in operando experiments. Aarhus University is heading the design and implementation of PXRD. The beamline and PXRD instrument are scheduled to receive first beam in Q2 2020 and start user operation in early 2021.

The candidate must have a PhD in chemistry, crystallography, materials science or equivalent. Additionally, he/she is required to have a strong background in crystallographic techniques, in particular powder diffraction experiments, and modeling of PXRD data. Experience with large scale facilities, synchrotron or neutron sources, is a significant asset. Experience with instrumentation and/or programming is considered favorable.

Starting date is April 1st, 2020 or as soon as possible hereafter.

The successful candidate will be employed by Aarhus University, but the place of work will be at MAX IV in Lund, Sweden.

The successful candidate will be involved in both the beamline team at MAX IV in Lund and the groups at the Inorganic section at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University. The Department of Chemistry (www.chem.au.dk) is one of the leading European chemistry departments with a broad research program. It has a permanent staff of ~30 Full and Associate Professors, a support-staff of ~30 people, ~150 PhD students and postdocs, and around 500 students. The AU part of the DanMAX team is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) (www.inano.au.dk) as well as the Aarhus Center for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT) (www.imat.au.dk). iMAT integrates a diverse range of basic and applied materials research areas across departments and centres and thereby strongly contribute to solving some of the Grand Challenges of modern society.

For further information, please contact Assistant Research Professor and beamline scientist, Mads Ry Jørgensen (mads@chem.au.dk).

Applications including CV, full publication list, references and a description of qualifications must be submitted by December 31st, 2019.

  Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

  Formalities and salary range

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Guidelines for applicants can be found here.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information on qualification requirements and job content may be found in the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities.

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.

All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of their personal background. Research activities will be evaluated in relation to actual research time. Thus, we encourage applicants to specify periods of leave without research activities, in order to be able to subtract these periods from the span of the scientific career during the evaluation of scientific productivity.
