Postdoctoral Positions in Human Functional Genomics of Aging and Disease

The Suh Laboratory at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is actively seeking 1-2 highly motivated postdoctoral fellows interested in any of the following areas: (1) MicroRNAs in Human Aging and Aging-Related Diseases. (2) Mouse Models of MicroRNAs in Aging and Aging-related Diseases. (3) Identification and Characterization of MicroRNA to Develop Intervention Strategies against Aging and Aging-related Diseases

Research focus: The Sub lab is interested in understanding genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that underlie the interface of intrinsic aging and disease in humans using functional genomics approaches. The lab focuses on discovery of microRNAs in the human population with longevity history and investigation of the molecular mechanisms underlying longevity. To go from discovery to mechanisms and translate this information into preventive or therapeutic strategies, the Suh lab utilizes the systematic administration of longevity-associated miRNAs by intravenous/intraperitoneal injection into mice and inducible transgenic mouse models to investigate the functional impact on physiological outcomes relevant to aging and longevity.

Lab expertise: The lab specializes in the analysis and integration to identify differential expressed microRNAs in human and mouse related with aging and longevity and in manipulation of particular microRNA by transfection in cells and by intravenous/intraperitoneal injection or inducible system in mice to investigate the molecular mechanisms of longevity-associated microRNAs.

  Application Requirements:

PhD or MD or equivalent degree.

A record of publications from PhD or prior postdoctoral training work.

Prior training in molecular cell biology is preferred.

Prior experience in microRNA and/or mouse study is highly desired.

  Applicant Instructions:

To apply, upload your CV and a short cover letter summarizing your experience, along with the contact information of three references to the job posting on the Columbia University website: http://pa334.peopleadmin.com/postings/4592

The Scientific Community: Situated on a 20-acre campus in Northern Manhattan CUIMC provides global leadership in scientific research, health and medical education, and patient care.
