The Scaglione lab in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology is looking for a postdoctoral researcher interested in investigating Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Our goal is to understand how disruptions in protein homeostasis of contribute to AD and to use this knowledge to develop therapies. The Scaglione lab utilizes a wide range of approaches to address our questions. This includes biochemical and genetic techniques utilized in the amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum , human cell culture, and genetically modified mouse models. The initial positions will be for one year with the possibility to renew.

Requirements:

  Completion of all requirements of a PhD or MD/PhD (or equivalent degree) in the biomedical sciences.

  Evidence of completion of a research project (publications)

  Ability to work as a team with senior scientists, graduate students, and technicians.

  Excellent communication skills

  Experience utilizing Dictyostelium discoideum or mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases is preferred but not required.

Other Credential/Experiential Requirements: This position is limited to those with no more than 5 years combined of Duke and external postdoctoral experience, or no more than 4 years of Duke experience if that is the only postdoctoral experience.
